Lory Student Center Revitalization
Colorado State University
Fort Collins, Colorado
$48,000,000; A 204,500 sq. ft. master plan for rejuvenation of CSU's 50-year-old Lory Student Center calls for the renovation of 143,050 sq. ft. of existing space and 61,450 sq. ft. of new construction, resulting in a net growth of 131% over the current net usable area. Space programming is organized around large event spaces, meeting rooms, dining services, lounge space, university services, student affairs and student organizations. To improve circulation, the existing north-south and east-west connections was clarified, widened in selected areas and expanded vertically as multi-height spaces filled with daylight.
The rejuvenated Lory Student Center now provides a physical presence that aligns with the rich student programs and the unique land grant history of CSU. The architectural image of the LSC has been reimagined to reflect the values of its mid-century heritage.
alm2s worked with Perkins + Will on the master planning and conceptual design phases of the project, continuing through full design and construction.
