Lory Student Center Theatre Renovation
Colorado State University
Fort Collins, Colorado
$4,400,000; The renovation of the 1962 Lory Student Center Theatre was designed to create a unique destination for students within the social hub of campus activity that is the Lory Student Center. Redesigned for small concerts, movies, banquets, lectures and small vendor fairs, the 19,500 sq. ft. theatre has become more flexible and desirable than the existing fixed-seat theatre.
The existing main level and balcony level raked seating was removed and the space transformed into a flat floor, multipurpose facility with a wraparound balcony. The north wall of the existing theatre was opened up to create a dramatic new entry at the main level, with the balcony level overlooking the central courtyard of the student center.
This project is the first phase of an extensive, multi-phased master plan for renovation and addition improvements. alm2s worked in conjunction with Perkins+Will on the theatre renovation phase of the project.
