Atmospheric Science/CIRA Research Addition
Colorado State University
Fort Collins, Colorado
$1,860,000; The ATS/CIRA Research Center was a joint project for the Department of Atmospheric Science (ATS) and the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) at the CSU's Foothills Campus. The 14,300 sq. ft. addition provides tape data storage, learning center/laboratory space, as well as clustered office groupings and conference rooms for research teams.
The 3-story addition was sited adjacent to the main ATS facility and north of the CIRA building for close proximity to each, partially built into the natural terrain to align new programmed spaces of both ATS and CIRA with their respective floor levels. An upper level interior catwalk connects the new addition with the stairwell and elevator tower of the existing building.
Professional services included programming and full architectural and engineering services.
